US$ one million as scholarships to Indian students

University of Cincinnati to offer US$ one million as scholarships to Indian students

The University of Cincinnati (UC), one of the top public universities in the United States, is offering US$ one million in scholarships to deserving undergraduate Indian students for September 2011 admissions.

India is the first beneficiary country of the UC Global Opportunity Scholarship Initiative launched this year. This scholarship will provide complete funding to academically gifted, but financially disadvantaged, students from India. This is the first scholarship of its kind at UC. It will only make two awards every four years, and has decided to dedicate those awards to Indian students in its initial year.

These scholarships include full tuition, housing, meals, airfare costs and are available for the students entering the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) in September 2011. In addition, the university is also offering ten half scholarships to talented Indian undergraduate students. The total scholarship amount offered is worth approximately US$ one million. UC has partnered with an NGO, Lend-A-Hand India (LAHI) to identify the two underprivileged Indian students for two full scholarships.

For the ten half scholarships, students may apply by December 1, 2010.

The applicants must submit their admission forms and official SAT scores (minimum 1350 - Critical Reading plus Math sections only or an ACT composite score of 30). These scholarships are available for all majors at the university including Business, Education, Design, Engineering, Natural & Social Science, among others.
